Drumset Essentials,
published by Alfred Music, was carefully designed
with meticulous attention to detail to be the best
method for drummers of any skill level. The series
teaches the art of drumming in a logical progression
that is clearly written and thorough in its content.
A play-along CD is included for each volume sold at
this website that contains play-along tracks without
drums as well as complete band tracks with which
students can listen to Peter's drumming approach and
style.
Volume 3 covers (more) brush-playing beats, tips and
studies; Brazilian and Afro-Caribbean music; metric
combinations/possibilities in 4/4 and "odd-time"
meters; plus general drumming philosophy and work
tips. This is, in Peter's words, his "best book
yet." The Afro-Caribbean chapter is co-authored
by Aaron Serfaty, drummer and percussionist par
excellence from Venezuela, and Peter's teaching
colleague at the University of Southern California.
This book has unique material not covered in “The
Erskine Method” compilation or other “Drumset
Essentials” volumes.
